Staying with the recent topic of the BBC, last night's Feedback programme on BBC Radio 4 featured complaints about the BBC's handling of...complaints! And there've been quite a lot. Many centred on the way BEEB spokespersons have of smugly refuting any complaint in a holier-than-thou attitude. I thought it was just me who noticed this, but obviously not. It'll be interesting to see if their new Governor General Chris Patten addresses the issue in a positive way.

I don't think they have ever actually managed to refute anything. They may reject them, but until they prove one wrong, they haven't refuted it.

The Conservatives have made sure their point of view is strongly expressed across the BEEB with that appointment!!...hmmm...somebody with no political affiliations should have that job to avoid the accusation of bias...think it's disgraceful to be able to appoint somebody who is an out and out Tory, even if allegedly a soft one, if there is such a thing, which I doubt very much...

The BBC stopped being impartial a decade or so ago. Given the massive numbers of Labour supporters openly peddling spin at the BBC, I don't think there is too much danger of the BBC becoming a genuineley public broadcaster simply because they also have a tory there.

how amazing what one person hears compared to another...clearly the BBC can't actually win, because we've always thought they peddle right wing views or conformist views, and push the Jewish perspective on life to a point of absurdity, like every single week or, sometimes, every day of a week, there is something about a Jewish person or situation...we've stopped listening to it apart from the news and now even that...once I had it on all day but sadly, it drove me away...

Many of the views held by the Labour Party have indeed been quite right wing over the last few years, but the line being plugged was a Labour Party one for all that.

the true Labour party, techno, was decimated under Kinnock's leadership then was destroyed by Blair, that's quite a long time to be listening to horrible middle of the road or positively right wing viewpoints coming out of the BBC...New Labour isn't Socialist...and I am one so I've not been happy listening to it for a long time now...

ah, like me, we have to be a bit careful what we put up here...this doesn't actually make any difference because his position is simply the replacement for the old position of Governor General which doesn't exist anymore...
