For some time now I've been refusing to buy anything from Israel. Countries such as the US and the UK show no sign whatever of imposing sanctions on Israel for its treatment of the Palestinian people. To me this demonstrates rank hypocrisy, considering they condemn other countries for human rights abuse and threaten sanctions at the slightest pretext. Disagree with US foreign policy? Threats of sanctions deployed, instantly supported by America's lapdog the UK. I've followed the situation in the Middle East for almost 20 years, especially the pivotal interplay between Israel, the Palestinians, Syria and Iran. All of these regularly receive condemnation from America and Britain. All, that is, except Israel. We are now being told Israel feels 'vulnerable' because Iran may be seeking a nuclear deterrent. Israel' the only power in the Middle East which already has nuclear weapons, and which is backed up by America's massive nuclear arsenal, feels 'vulnerable'?! What bullshit. Israel increasingly has the whole region feeling under threat because of its belligerent attitude, but this never gets articulated by our Western media. You need to tune in to Al-Jazeera rather than the BBC for impartial reporting. So, I'm running my own sanctions programme. It makes me feel like I'm more involved.
