No problem. Cleaners. maids and cooks should up their hourly rates to the same a plumbers. £38 an hour for changing sweaty bedsheets, dusting the round the Dresden and cooking some middle class bastard's dinner doesn't sound too bad to me.
As I see it, if you can afford to have two £60k cars on the drive and think you need slaves, you can afford to pay them a decent hourly rate. That way they won't steal from you.

I hope my cleaner doesn't see this! Bloody hell. I look at it from the other side and see it as aiding the economy by employing someone to do what I really hate doing and quite frankly am very bad at. She takes pride in her work and is bloody good at it too. If you work hard enough to have 2 60k cars in the drive I don't see why you shouldn't employ people to look after you as well. I would love a butler even if his sole duty here would be answering the door while I sat on my ever increasing arse lol

Our generous govt increased the minimum wage by 50 cents an hour, or about %13.50 an hour. Lawyers up to %400.00 an hour. If the increase it by any more, the employers say, it will cause (more) employment.

good grief...I wonder how many middle class families today can afford cleaners and cooks? This has to be tax relief for the rich, not the ordinary family...so typical...minimum wages for them too...if the economy continues to decline, that will be reduced as well...just like the government is proposing in Greece, reducing it by 22% I heard last night!...Two days of a general strike resulting...our cuts haven't even kicked in yet!...

Hear hear!!!!
No matter what I couldn't have a cleaner or gardener....I'd feel obliged to clean up before the cleaner came out of shame...I couldn't imagine having someone clean my loo.....or change the bed!
However I suppose some people do need cleaners if the're never home...so YES...pay them accordingly. I always pity the people cleaning the filth people leave in hotel rooms...and the pittance they get paid!!!xxxx -

Somebody in charge somewhere seems to think that people simply scratching along existing as it is can still handle cuts to their living standards. Out of such situations revolutions arise. Poll Tax anyone?
