Hi to everybody...the Olympics is now going to cost us a further 2 billion above the last estimate of 7 billion, originally assessed as costing the country 2 billion!...deeeeeep bloody sighs...

Just where do they pluck these figures from?? If some one tells me an item I want is going to cost me £20, then £20 I will pay, not £70 or £90! If these fools have quoted too damn low just to get the contract then they should carry the burden, not us the consumer.
I am also looking forward to the Olympics and really hope they are successful, pity about the rank commercialisation of it all though!-

ah, no, it doesn't work that way for governments...not their money mostly...bit of tax probably, but mainly not theirs so they just throw estimates around like confetti and to hell with all of us who have to pay the final bill!

You would think they had learned something from the disaster that was the cost of the channel tunnel but no. This is an absolute joke of costs that will never be recovered and Londoners who will be peed off about disrupted services x

I just hope that the Olympics don't create economic problems for Britain in future years like they did to Greece.

I think we can probably guarantee we will unfortunately...not sure any city that's held the Olympics hasn't suffered financially afterwards...
