Israel's attorney general, Yehuda Weinstein, has asked the supreme court to delay an order to evacuate and demolish five apartment complexes at Ulpana, on the outskirts of the Beit El settlement. The deadline for the evacuation is Tuesday (tomorrow).
The Israeli government had earlier given a commitment to carry out the demolition, saying that it did not approve settlement construction on private land. However, vigorous lobbying by pro-settler Likud members and some government ministers has led prime minister Netanyahu to 'reconsider' the situation.
Most settlements in the West Bank are built on land taken over by the state of Israel during its 45-year occupation of Palestine. But under international law, all settlements on occupied territory are illegal, which means the majority.

The voices of critics are beginning to be heard in Israel against Netanyahu and his Messianic approach to Israel, particularly in the threat to attack Iran...let's hope those critics become the majority...

It's good that at least one Israeli voice is now saying that Iran does not pose a threat to Israel. But where've they been while the belligerent threats were coming thick and fast?

Just as with Cameron & Co over here, the chickens are coming home to roost for Israel's current regime. It's former security chief, Yuval Diskin, is a recent critic of the Netanyahu crowd's ultra-hawkish stance.
Regarding the threats against Iran, Diskin said: "They (Netanyahu & Co) are not people whom I, on a personal level, trust to lead the state of Israel into an event on that scale."-

The criticism, though, needs to be kept in perspective. Most of those guys doing the criticising are still in favour of keeping the Palestinians screwed down.
