It is worth watching this video. It announces a new police tactic against peaceful protest in the UK.

Ah, but this mob of a government is protecting democracy!!...deep bloody sighs...I feel ashamed that the police are always protecting the government and so very rarely, if ever, the people in such situations...the Police should be protecting us from criminals, but should also be there to protect our freedom as citizens in a democratic country, and they are most definitely not...and why they shouldn't explain why they are doing what they're doing is beyond me...they are answerable to the people, it's our taxes paying their wages so we're their employers not the government!...And they wonder why so many people have no respect for the Law!...if they were on our side, we'd really respect them and it, but they're basically just the thugs of whichever government happens to be in at the time when it comes to the right of the people to protest publicly...hmmm...didn't I hear this two faced government criticizing governments in the Middle East for not allowing peaceful public protest...what hypocrisy!!...

The government is elected... Parliament make/amend the law the Police facilitate the law that has been put in place. without a shadow of a doubt the MAJORITY of people do not want these protesters to again occupy the pavements and want them to be moved, and expect the Police to do this for them...as always it is the minority that shout and moan the loudest.....Public sector workers are funded by tax payers, but they act under the direction of the government and it is for a majority of people to vote for the government they want ....If people or individuals want a certain type of government then they should voice their views and create a party that is strpong enough to form a govebnment ..that way they can get the change they want....i am tired of people moaning but can never offer a practical and viable solution to the problem....they just spout words without having any responsibility to evidence that what they want can be achieved....and hidden amongst all this is the fact that it is the media that control the future of this country and it is the media who will decide what party they want in power, al the time i just see quotes from newspapers as if the item is the only truth..this is the case for all newspapers.....the system in this country is far from perfect but it is better than communism or anarchy..or far right doctrines...i look forward to hearing someone explain how they can get the system they want...talk is easy but action is hard..and

where do you get the idea the MAJORITY are on the police's side in moving on these protesters??? I think you're completely wrong there, and whoever told you that is lying to you...The vast majority of the people in this country know they been robbed by the banking fraternity but most also know they can't protest publicly because of keeping their jobs, or families, etc...so if there are people willing to put a face to the indignation and outrage of the people in general, they'll be backing them, not the Police and their heavy handed treatment of this particular protest...you may want to be loved and respected but you won't be if you go around crushing legitimate protest...you'll just be seen as the thugs of the State machine and friends of the robber bankers...sorry, Jack...you can't have it both ways, if this country's people are free to protest, then that is their right to do so...making pavements protest free has to be illegal and, if not, then you're protecting a fascist state which as passed laws that no democratic society will tolerate...what are we doing sending our soldiers to die around the world fighting for democracy in far off countries, when ours is being undermined and removed before our eyes?

Let me clarify...I and many others support and encourage lawful protest, and when they first went to protest outside st pauls I and many others thought that it was a just action, however when it became clear that they had no intention of moving and were prepared to set up a camp with and indefinite time frame... that's when they lost a lot of support. it became clear that they would not move and as ever a minority of the Professional protesters wanted nothing more than confrontation and to be forcibly remove...which is often the case....when removing protesters they should be informed that their action has now falling out of the remit of being lawful and they should be asked to move...if they refuse the request should be repeated....if they do not move then force will be used to move them....and as more than one copper will take hold of them. to remove them.
anyhow we will be miles apart on this we will as always have to agree to differ. have a great evening ..GBH

I can't say one way or the other, Jack, re professional protesters??? You mean people who do want to try to make the point firmly like the Greenham Common women...in order to get somebody in authority to listen to them and all their supporters...a one off protest unfortunately has very little impact whatsoever so more permanent protests are called for...lawful protest is just a way now of saying you can march along a definite route, you cannot deviate from it and you must disrupt life wherever you do it as little as possible...??? And how is that a protest that's going to have any impact...what is really behind these 'rights' is throwing a crumb to protesters and then, if they object, coming down like a ton of bricks on them to make sure they don't try anything not permitted again...I know all that the police must do is control the situation, that's why the government uses them...crowd control and all that...but a protest requires an outcome, or at the very least, a recognition by the authorities that people are very angry at what has been done to them, namely we've been robbed blind by bankers who have walked free and are still laughing all the way to the bank, while we are now paying through the nose for their crimes...as the police are also suffering the same things as the ordinary people in the street, why aren't they out protesting as well...you are supposed to catch criminals, and what the bankers did was criminal, used our money to gamble in the markets and lost...don't you even see the incongruity of the police not being on the side of the protesters?

I can assure you that I have met many professional protesters who turn up at many of the protests with there own agenda's... as for there being no constraints as to where and when a protest is held or routes etc...well I have never supported anarchy because that's where it would lead...so many good marches and protests have been hi jack by those who want nothing more than trouble...these are minority groups but they are not nice people and dont give a hoot for the cause that they are attending...as for the police protesting well they have done ..only last week ..10th May 30000 police held a march...and on many occasions the police agree with the sentiment of the protesters...but quite rightly the Police act on behalf of the public through an elected government and that is how it needs to be...if you dont like the government then Vote it out....as always bankers all get tarred with the same brush and whether you like it or not it is bankers who are the ones that have to get us out of the mire....there is so much wrong with it...bonuses etc..however someone has to come up with a viable solution...as for what some did being criminal...come up with the crime that they committed and lets get those people in court!..Just saying it does not make it happen....the police do not prosecute people there job is to put the evidence to the prosecution service and then it is for the courts to decide regarding their guilt or innocence...prove beyond reasonable doubt...the police can arrest all of them if you like but without a case that can be put to the court nothing will happen. how do you want things to change ...explain how it can ....Utopia does not exist and it never will....what you don't like others do, what others want some do not...every opinion has an opposite opinion...so it has to be done via an elected government ..those who are passionate about change need to go out and get the majority to join them and change it.
come the revolution Jen you and i will be on different sides..GBH

isn't that a sad bit at the end...
You'll be thumping me over the head with a truncheon because I want a world that's more just, less warlike and better for our children...
Is that a Utopian hope? Good grief, if it is, we're already lost...just hit the button and have done with it, there's no hope...

the irony of this conversation is that ultimately we both want the same thing!!
sadly I have seen at first hand what real evil is out and about in the world and what people are prepared to do to each other..and there are a lot of them..

I know we do...otherwise I wouldn't be friends with you...
and yes, I know there are some total bastards out there in the big bad world, and somebody has to keep them away from the likes of me and all the peace loving people in this world, and it falls to the likes of you for which I am very grateful, but, on the issues of politics and war, we do seem to clash which is really quite odd because I'd defend you tooth and claw if somebody tried to hurt you, and that's what I think I'm doing for you with my approach to these issues...weird old world isn't it...

Yes, the police are always wanting help from the public to solve crimes (eg. Crimewatch), but the police hierarchy's remit is 'the public are the enemy'. How often do they give people the benefit of the doubt.

The police, if this video is anything to go by, come across as surly, ignorant jobsworths, incapable of or not allowed to, say anything generated via their own brain spoken via their own mouths without the "I'm only following orders" mantra. The hated SS followed orders blindly in the period under the murderous dictator Hitler. I'm not comparing our police with the SS, just saying like......

Sadly you are right police officers are terrible when doorstepped by a microphone and a camera...but so are most people...the image shown is exactly what was wanted by the producer of the film...
